Grover Pumpkin Festival

The night of the event, we will be lighting a wall of approximately 700 jack-o'-lanterns from our community and local schools as a grand finale to welcome our festival to Cleveland County and North Carolina.

The event is expected to attract over 6,000 spectators who will enjoy live music, a corn maze, hay rides, great food, lots of games and activities all day and of course, pumpkin carving. A costume contest and pie eating contest will add to the festive atmosphere, along with a not-so-haunted mansion and a safe Trick or Treating experience for the kids.

Lil’ Miss Pumpkin Queen Program

This year we begin a new tradition in Grover, North Carolina with the Grover Pumpkin Festival. We also want to start another tradition one of crowning a Pumpkin Queen for our festival. For our first year we are going to limit our contestants to girls who attend Grover Elementary School, Pre-K through 4th grade. They will have the opportunity to win great prizes such as: a crown, sash, a space in the Grover Christmas Parade and more.

Summary of the Program

We will be looking for young girls to participate in our Lil’ Miss Pumpkin Queen program that will kick off October 1, 2011 and run through the Grover Pumpkin Festival. Each girl will be featured during the festival with the winner of the Lil’ Miss Pumpkin Queen being determined on money collected with each penny equaling a vote. The collection will begin at our festival kick-off event October 1, 2011 and will continue through the festival which is held on Saturday, October 29, 2011. At 3:30pm the day of the festival we will crown our Lil’ Miss Pumpkin Queen and award her with a crown, sash and prizes. We encourage each participant to ask family and friends to donate to their jar throughout the month of October. Donations do not have to be just pennies. We will accept all denominations of coins and paper money. All money collected goes directly to the Town of Grover for beautification projects, which could include areas around Grover Elementary School.

Deadline to submit money collected is Thursday, October 27, 2011. Money needs to be submitted to the Grover Town Hall which is located at 207 Mulberry Road, Grover, NC.
